Ask a longtime Castle Pines resident about summer and they will tell you about the Sunday concerts at Elk Ridge Park. Ask again in 2026 and the answer starts to shift. There is a second calendar now, running on Saturdays a mile east at The Canyons, and it has quietly changed how a resident builds a weekend here.
This post is a working map of both tracks for the back half of the season, with the specific times, the venues, the food, and the one date on the Elk Ridge lineup where showing up at six means missing the first act.
A tale of two calendars
Castle Pines is roughly 11,000 residents. For a city that size to run two overlapping summer series is unusual, and it explains why the calendar suddenly feels crowded in a way it did not a few years ago.

The Elk Ridge track is the older institution, presented with Sky Ridge (HCA HealthONE) as the anchor sponsor. The Green is newer, tied to the buildout of The Canyons clubhouse and coffee house, and it is the one most residents outside The Canyons have not fully caught up with yet.
What is actually left on the Elk Ridge calendar
Two of the three Sunday concerts still sit ahead of most readers of this post.
Narrow Gauge, Sunday July 26, 6 to 8 p.m. A Colorado band with a wide setlist. This show falls during the opening weekend of the Douglas County Fair and Rodeo in Castle Rock, which runs July 24 through August 2. If you have kids doing 4-H or you are planning a Sunday at the fair, the Narrow Gauge show is the easy evening bookend. Parking is at the park.
The Long Run, Saturday August 16, 5 to 7 p.m. This is the one to circle. The City of Castle Pines confirms an earlier start time than the other two concerts. Show up at six the way you did in June and you will find the crowd already settled and the tribute to The Eagles half over. Bring the chair earlier. The park has a splash pad and playground for kids who tap out during the set.
The organizers' standard guidance holds for both nights. Blanket, chair, snacks. The park is inside the neighborhood, so leave the car and walk if you can.
The second track most residents underestimate
The Canyons opened its clubhouse and restaurant recently, and with that came a set of public events on The Green, the community lawn just west of Canyon House. It is not a full concert series in the Elk Ridge sense. It is closer to four or five anchor Saturdays that pull crowds from beyond The Canyons boundary.
The inaugural Maker's Market ran June 13 with forty local artisans, bakers, and food trucks. It is worth watching for whether the community brings it back as a recurring event, because a curated Saturday market at that scale did not exist in Castle Pines before this year.
The July 11 Concert on The Green (5 to 8 p.m.) features That 80's Band, roving entertainers, a caricature artist, balloon artist, inflatables, and local food trucks. It is deliberately family-shaped in a way the Elk Ridge shows are not. Later in the summer, The Canyons is programming a Dueling Pianos night on The Green with additional programming to be announced.
The practical read: if you have young kids, the Saturday Green events give you an earlier dinner-and-music window than the 6 p.m. Elk Ridge Sundays. If you are past that stage, the Elk Ridge series still owns the Sunday evening slot.
Where dinner fits before or after
The single biggest change to how a Castle Pines weekend runs is that you can now eat well without leaving the 80108. That was not true two summers ago.
Canyon House Kitchen + Cocktails. Inside The Canyons clubhouse, open to the public. Eighty seats indoors, covered patio with a view of Rueter-Hess Reservoir. American menu with burgers, pizza, steak, and fish. Executive chef Greg Kunter previously ran the kitchen at The Exchange Coffee House, also a BlueStar property. Managed by BlueStar Resort & Golf, with GM Joey Sanders on site. This is the natural pre-concert dinner if you are heading to The Green, and a credible destination dinner on its own the other five nights of the week.
Pines Bar and Grill, 7280 Lagae Rd Suite A-111. The neighborhood sports bar. The room turns into the town's small live music venue on weekend evenings, with the Blue Moon Band and rotating local acts. Menu leans comfort with occasional global crossovers, tandoori chicken and samosas alongside the burger board.
The Exchange Coffee House, inside The Canyons. Not a dinner spot, but the Saturday morning anchor. Trivia nights, block parties, and the Music & Mimosas series live here. Useful to know as the pre-market coffee stop for Maker's Market Saturdays.
The Chamber also runs Vino in the Village later in the summer, its signature ticketed wine event in partnership with Dodd's Wine Village. That one is worth booking early if you have not attended before.
The weeknight fill
The summer calendar is Saturday and Sunday heavy. If you want the weeknight version of Castle Pines nightlife, it currently lives at one address.
- Tuesday: Trivia at Pines Bar and Grill
- Wednesday: Karaoke at Pines Bar and Grill
- Thursday: Open Mic at Pines Bar and Grill
Small, repeatable, and the kind of standing weeknight routine that does not exist in most Douglas County suburbs at all.
The city days worth planning around
Beyond the two concert tracks, the City of Castle Pines runs four free community days each summer. Two matter most for planning the rest of July and August.
Summer Splash Water Day at Elk Ridge Park. Free water slides, foam party, DJ, food trucks. A waiver is required in advance, and kids under 18 must be supervised by a parent or guardian. This event has been weather-rescheduled in past years, so watch the city calendar the week of.
Party in the Park, later in the summer at Elk Ridge. The marquee closer. Live music from Darling Revival, vendor booths, kids activities, an In-N-Out food truck for dinner, and a laser light show. Fireworks are on the schedule weather and fire restrictions permitting, which is the operative caveat in a Colorado August.
The Food Truck Frenzy at Coyote Ridge Park already ran June 6. If you missed it, the pattern is worth noting for next year: early-summer, low-key, and the easiest way to sample a rotating set of trucks without leaving the neighborhood.
What changes in December
The reason the summer grid matters right now is that it is about to shift again. The 102,000-plus-square-foot Life Time at 7373 Canyon Forge Drive is expected to debut by end of 2026, with groundbreaking earlier this year confirmed by the City of Castle Pines Planning Commission. The club will bring a LifeCafe grab-and-go and an outdoor poolside bistro, along with indoor and outdoor pickleball courts, a full-service spa, and a hydrotherapy suite.
Two things follow. First, next summer's dining and fitness options in Castle Pines will be materially different from this summer's. Second, the Canyon Forge corridor east of I-25 keeps compounding. The Peaks at Canyons, a 70-unit rental townhome community at Canyonside Boulevard and Canyon Forge Drive, is under construction with completion set for late 2027. What was a quiet edge of the city three years ago will be the busiest half-mile in town by the end of the decade.
For a resident planning July and August, none of that changes the blanket-and-chair calculus this Sunday. It does mean the summer routine you build in 2026 will not be the same one you build in 2027.
A working plan for the rest of the season
If you want a single trial run to test both tracks before deciding which one becomes your default, try this sequence.
- Saturday morning at The Exchange Coffee House. Walk The Canyons trails afterward.
- Sunday July 26, Narrow Gauge at Elk Ridge Park at 6 p.m.
- Saturday August 15 or thereabouts, dinner at Canyon House with the patio view.
- Saturday August 16, The Long Run at Elk Ridge Park at 5 p.m., not 6.
- Any Thursday, Open Mic at Pines Bar and Grill for the weeknight test.
That is roughly two weeks of a Castle Pines summer as residents are actually stitching it together in 2026.
